Privacy Policy
This policy describes exactly what MeiQ Genius collects, why, who else sees it, and how to get rid of it. It reflects what the software actually does — not a generic template.
1. What we collect
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name | When you register | To address you, and on your receipts |
| Email address | When you register | It is your sign-in identity and how we reach you about a purchase |
| Phone number (optional) | Registration or profile | Only to pre-fill the payment form and to reach you about a failed payment. Leave it blank and nothing breaks |
| Password | Registration or password change | Stored only as a scrypt hash — we cannot read it, and neither can anyone who steals the database |
| Lesson progress | While you watch | To resume where you left off and show a progress bar |
| Order records | When you buy | Proof of purchase, support, and tax records |
| IP address | Every request | Rate limiting, to stop brute-force sign-in attempts and abuse. Held briefly and not tied to your account |
We do not collect your address, date of birth, gender, or any card, UPI or bank details. We have no analytics, no advertising pixels, no session recording and no behavioural profiling of any kind.
2. Who else sees your data
Two services, and nothing beyond what each one needs to do its job:
| Service | What it receives | When |
|---|---|---|
| Razorpay — payments | Your name, email and phone (to fill the payment form), the amount, the course title, and our internal account and course ids. Your card or UPI details go straight to Razorpay and never touch our servers | Only when you actually start a payment |
| YouTube — video hosting | Your IP address and browser, as with any embedded video | Only on lessons whose video is hosted on YouTube. We use the no-cookie player |
Our fonts are served from our own servers rather than a font CDN, so simply reading this site does not hand your IP address to a third party.
We never sell your personal data, and we never share it for advertising.
3. Cookies
We set one cookie: a sign-in session cookie, so you stay logged in. It is
HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite=Lax, and
it holds nothing but a signed reference to your account. Your light/dark
theme choice is kept in your own browser and never sent to us.
We use no tracking or advertising cookies, which is why you are not being asked to dismiss a cookie banner.
4. How long we keep it
Your account details and progress stay for as long as your account exists. Payment records are kept for eight years after the transaction, because tax law requires it — but see the next section for what happens to your identity in them.
5. Your rights, and how to use them
Delete your account yourself. Go to Profile → Delete your account after signing in. It takes effect immediately, with no email exchange and no waiting period. Your name, email, phone, password, enrolments and lesson progress are erased on the spot. The payment rows survive, stripped of anything identifying you, because we are legally required to keep proof that a transaction happened. Deleting is permanent and costs you access to courses you have bought, so please be sure.
You may also ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to restrict how we use it. Write to meiqgenius@gmail.com from your registered address and we will respond within 30 days.
6. How we protect it
Passwords are hashed with scrypt and never stored or logged in readable form. Our logs are filtered so that email addresses and phone numbers cannot end up in them, even inside an error report. Course videos we host ourselves are stored outside the public web root and are served only after we check that you are entitled to them.
7. Children
This service is intended for students aged 18 and over. If you are younger, please use it with a parent or guardian who agrees to this policy on your behalf.
8. Contact
Questions, complaints or data requests: meiqgenius@gmail.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to your local data-protection authority.
9. Changes
If we change what we collect or who we send it to, we will update this page and change the date below. Material changes will be emailed to registered students.
